NEW DELHI: Amid escalating violence in Manipur during the last week, an additional 2,000 paramilitary personnel have been deployed to bring the situation under control. Another 3000 soldiers will arrive in the state in the coming days. No new incidents of violence have been reported in the state. Meanwhile, the internet ban has been extended to more districts. The state's border with Assam's Cachar district has been sealed. A large number of Assam police personnel and commandos have been deployed in this area.

The NIA has launched an investigation into the incident where a Meitei refugee camp was attacked, and women and children were abducted and killed. The NIA has registered three cases related to incidents that occurred after November 7. A two-member inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the death of a Meitei protester in a police firing in Jiribam.

Senior officials met in Delhi under the leadership of Home Minister Amit Shah to assess the situation. Amit Shah asked the central forces to ensure law and order in the state. He also appealed to the people to remain calm. 22 people have been killed in the violence since November 7.

Petition sent to UN
A collective of Meitei organizations has sent a petition to the United Nations (UN) seeking immediate intervention in the ongoing human rights crisis in Manipur. The collective stated that the Kuku attacks were not isolated incidents and that there was a large conspiracy behind the attacks. It also stated that the violence targeting women and children in the relief camps is a violation of the provisions of international human rights treaties.

Mass resistance
Meanwhile, a meeting of 27 NDA MLAs called for a mass resistance against the attackers. They demanded that immediate action should be taken within a week regarding the incident and that the Kuki group should be declared a terrorist organization. The Chief Minister's Secretariat assured that the state and central governments will take all necessary measures to restore peace in the state.

Congress sends letter to President
The Congress has sent a letter to Prime Minister Droupadi Murmu seeking her intervention to bring the situation in Manipur under control. The letter says that with the intervention of the President, the people can live with dignity.
