PALAKKAD: Shafi Parambil MP said the boomerang symbol would have been good for the LDF. Everything including newspaper advertisements was a setback for the LDF, said Shafi Parambil while talking to the media in Palakkad.

Shafi clarified that the soil and mind of Palakkad are with UDF candidate Rahul Mamkootathil and that he will win with a good majority. 'We have no concerns with the election result and this is because of the confidence given by the people,' clarified Shafi.

All three candidates are optimistic. Rahul Mamkootathil responded that he will get a good majority. He said that today is the most important day in his public and personal lives.

BJP candidate C Krishnakumar also shared his hope of victory. He told the media in the morning that people will vote for development. Sarin also responded that the minds of the people in Palakkad are with him.

Voting began at 7 am. A good turnout was recorded in the first hours. Palakkad has 1,94,706 voters. Of these, 1,00,290 are women. There are 184 polling stations. Heavy security has been arranged at the problematic booths, including those led by the Central Army. The polling, which was scheduled to be held on the 13th along with the Wayanad and Chelakkara by-elections, was postponed to today in the backdrop of the Kalpathi Rathotsavam. The counting of votes for all three seats will be on the 23rd.
