VIZHINJAM: In a tragic incident, a fisherman died after a fishing boat capsized in the sea. The deceased has been identified as Veli native Sathi (49). The accident occurred near the Veli beach at around 10 am today. Sathi and his relatives were returning to the shore after fishing when the boat was overturned by a big wave.

Sathi's cousin Satheesh (45) sustained serious injuries in the accident. Satheesh, who suffered injuries on his head and chest, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital.

Sathi's brother Ratheesh and uncle Sudhakaran escaped with minor injuries. The front portion of the boat was damaged in the accident. The fishing nets were also lost. Sathi's body has been kept at the Medical College Hospital. Sathi is unmarried. Vizhinjam Coastal Police has registered a case in the incident.
