CHENNAI: It came as a shock to many when music maestro AR Rahman and Saira Banu decided to end their 29-year-long marriage life. And now, just hours after this news, Rahman’s band member and bassist Mohini Dey has announced separation from her husband composer Mark Hartsuch.
Mohini’s Instagram post:
“Dear friends, family, fans, and followers, With a heavy heart, Mark and I announce that we have separated. First, as a commitment to our friends and family, this is a mutual understanding between us. While we remain great friends, we both have decided that we want different things in life and separation through mutual agreement was the best way to proceed. We appreciate your support in all of the ways you have given it to us. Please honour the decision we have made by being positive towards us at this time and respecting our privacy. We would appreciate no judgements.”
Mohini is a famed bassist and is a crucial member of Rahman’s band. She has been with Rahman in more than 40 shows worldwide. Apart from Rahman., Mohini has also shared the stage with veterans like Zakir Hussain, Ranjit Barot, Steve Vai and Guthrie Govan.
Meanwhile, Mohini said she would continue to work alongside her former partner Mark Hartsuch for musical gigs.
