KOZHIKODE: An elderly man, who mistakenly feared that his daughter died after fatally knocked down by a train, collapsed and died. The incident happened last evening at around 6 pm at Puthuppanam in Vadakara.

The dead is Sharmila of Aakoontavida in Palolipalam. The accident occurred while she was returning from a funeral home. There was no one nearby. The loco pilot informed the Vadakara railway station about the incident. The body was later found in a search conducted by the RPF and locals.


Retired teacher Rajan from Karukayil Kuttiyil had also come here. His daughter's name is Sharmya. He came fearing that his daughter was the one who met with the accident. He collapsed and was immediately rushed to the hospital but his life could not be saved.


He was a teacher retired from a school in Iringal. He is also a member of the CPM Karuka branch. He leaves behind his wife Jaya and children: Sharmya and Rinju.

Angajan is Sharmila’s husband and her children are Kavya and Krishna.
