KOCHI: The High Court has quashed the case against Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai regarding his contentious speech on the Sabarimala women's entry issue. The court issued the verdict after considering Sreedharan Pillai's plea seeking the cancellation of the case.

Sreedharan Pillai made the controversial speech during a Yuva Morcha meeting in Kozhikode in November 2018. During his speech, he termed the protest regarding the entry of women to Sabarimala as a golden opportunity.

With the speech sparking a controversy, Sreedharan Pillai explained that he originally intended that the Sabarimala issue was a golden opportunity for his party to protest peacefully and that the idea was a Gandhian model of protest. Later, the Kasaba Police registered a case against Pillai. The case was later handed over to the Nadakkavu Police.
