THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that isolated places in the state will receive heavy rain today. A yellow alert has been sounded in four districts today. These districts will receive isolated heavy rain in the coming hours.

The yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Ernakulam districts. A yellow alert indicates heavy rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

IMD announced that fishing is prohibited along the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts today, while there are no restrictions along the Karnataka coast. Strong winds with speeds of 35-45 km/h, and occasionally up to 55 km/h, and rough seas are expected along the southern Kerala coast and Lakshadweep coast.
