NEW DELHI: A fishing boat collided with a Navy submarine off the Goa coast, leaving two fishermen missing. The incident occurred approximately 70 nautical miles from the shore, involving a fishing vessel named Marthoma and a Scorpene-class submarine, according to the Defense Ministry.
There were 13 fishermen on board the Marthoma and 11 of them were rescued. The Navy is continuing an extensive search operation for the two missing fishermen, deploying six ships and aircraft in the search efforts.
The search and rescue operation has been coordinated with the Mumbai Maritime Rescue Coordination Center, with additional resources from the Coast Guard also being utilized. Authorities have confirmed that the cause of the collision is under investigation.
