KOCHI: Ernakulam Assistant Labour Commissioner has been arrested for accepting bribe. The arrested is Ajith Kumar of Uttar Pradesh. He accepted a bribe of Rs 20,000 in connection with the recruitment of laborers in BPCL company. The incident happened at the Central Deputy Chief Labour Commission office in Kakkanad. The officer was caught while accepting bribe Friday morning. The vigilance is conducting a raid at his office and Ajith Kumar's house in Kochi.


A deputy tehsildar was also arrested the other day for accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a non-resident Malayali. Subhash Kumar T K of Alathur was caught by the vigilance. The incident happened at Vaikom in Kottayam. He was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a non-resident for mutation of property (pokku varavu). The officer demanded Rs 60,000 from him.
