VADAKARA: Though the police sought more time to produce the Kafir screenshot case diary, the court did not allow it. The court has directed to produce the details today itself. With this, the police said that they will produce the details in the morning. The police were directed by the Vadakara First Class Magistrate Court.
It was directed to submit the progress of the investigation in the controversial Kafir screenshot case that happened during the Vadakara Lok Sabha elections and the current status regarding the results of the forensic examination to the court. The police are yet to find out who circulated the screenshot describing the LDF candidate in Vadakara as kafir. When MSF leader Mohammad Qasim, accused of circulating the Kafir screenshot, approached the high court, he was directed to approach the magistrate's court if required. Accordingly, he approached the Vadakara court pointing out that the investigation had not reached anywhere.
The kafir screenshot was circulated as a WhatsApp message mentioning that it was sent by PK Mohammad Qasim, an MSF leader in Thiruvallur. It contained a reference calling the LDF candidate a kafir. DYFI leader Ribesh Ramakrishnan was the admin of the 'Red Encounter' group, a CPM-affiliated faction, which circulated the fake screenshot.
According to the police, his post was shared by former MLA KK Lathika. Though Ribesh's statement was recorded, he refused to say where he got the post from. Mohammad Qasim and MSF had lodged a complaint pointing out that it was a fake screenshot. They alleged that the CPM was behind it. During the investigation, the police found that Mohammad Qasim was not behind the screenshot.
