RANCHI: If there is anything to take from the first results coming from Jharkhand, it will be the sham of exit polls. NDA started slowly taking a slender lead, but the INDIA alliance has made a comeback in emphatic style. As per the latest results, India Alliance is leading in 51 seats and NDA in 28 seats. In INDIA, JMM is leading in 30 seats, Congress in 15 seats and RJD in 5 seats.
On the other hand, on the NDA front, BJP is leading in 23 seats, AJSUP in two seats and JD(U) in one seat. JMM leader and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's wife Kalpana is behind BJP's Muniya by 3910 votes. Kalpana is contesting from the Gandey constituency. Kalpana had won the by-election to this seat, which fell vacant due to the resignation of JMM MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed. Back then, she defeated BJP's Dilip Kumar Verma by a thumping margin of 27,149 votes.
Most of the exit polls predicted an NDA win in Jharkhand. Four exit polls predicted a win for the BJP and its allies in Jharkhand. Only two agencies favoured Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) alliance. Some other agencies even predicted a hung assembly in Jharkhand.
