KANNUR: A mini bus carrying Ayyappa devotees from Karnataka met with an accident at Cheruthazham Ambala Road junction. Six people sustained injuries and the condition of two is stated to be critical.

The accident happened at around 7 am Sunday morning. The bus was heading from Pazhayangady area to Pilathara from Sabarimala. The bus hit an electricity post on one side of the road and overturned into a nearby field. Locals and passersby were engaged in the rescue operations. The cause of the accident is not clear. The driver dozing off may have led to the accident. The bus has been completely destroyed in the accident.

A bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims met with an accident at Thirunelli in Wayanad on November 19. Some people were injured, but none of them were in serious condition. The bus carrying natives of Karnataka were returning from Sabarimala when met with the accident. There were more than 50 people in the bus. The bus lost control and overturned. Locals and passersby who saw the accident rushed to the spot and took the injured to the hospital in various vehicles.
