KOCHI: After a series of defeats, Kerala Blasters got back to winning ways, creating a euphoric mood in Kochi JLN stadium Kaloor on Sunday. Blasters defeated Chennaiyin FC by three goals to nil. For Blasters, Jesus Jiminez (56), Noah Sadaoui (70), and K.P. Rahul (90) found the target.

Blasters have moved up to the eighth position in the table with 11 points. Blasters' next match is against FC Goa on the 28th.

The excitement was palpable from the start of the first half of the Southern Derby. In the ninth minute, Chennaiyin shook the home crowd with a fine freekick from Lukas Pivetta Brambilla . However, Blasters goalkeeper Sachin did enough to ward off the ball over the crossbars. The second half saw Blaster's domination to its fullest. The moment Kochi eagerly waited for came in the 56th minute after a measured pass from Adrian Luna reached Korou Singh. Singh’s powerful hit directed at the target reached Jiminez and a fine tap-in ensured that the host took the lead.

Chennaiyin tried to fight back with a flurry of chances but could not break the Blaster's defence bulwark. The final goal for Blasters came in injury time with Rahul making no mistake in converting the pass from Noah Sadaoui.
