KOCHI: Two people have been arrested in the murder of a woman, who was living alone in an apartment at Koonamthai in Kalamassery. Girish Babu of Kakkanad and an employee of Infopark, and his friend Khadeeja are the two arrested.

Jaycee Abraham (55) of Korothukudi House was murdered on November 17 at her house in Korothukudi, Choondakuzhy in Perumbavoor. Girish was an acquaintance of Jaycee. Police said the murder was to steal Jaycee's gold and money. Police said Khadeeja was arrested for planning the murder at her house.

He entered her apartment after making sure that Jaycee had money and gold. The police had obtained CCTV footage of Girish entering the apartment wearing a helmet and returning after changing his clothes. The investigation was conducted based on the footages obtained from the apartment.

The police had said that Jaycee had about ten wounds on her head and a very deep wound on the back of her head. Girish had a dumble in his bag. He murdered her after hitting her head with the dumple. Doctors who conducted the postmortem at the Ernakulam Government Medical College Hospital informed the police that the death was a murder. Jaycee's jewellery and two mobile phones were missing from the spot.

When the CCTV footage was examined, it was found that a youth with a helmet was walking on the road in front of the apartment at 10.20 am on Sunday. He can also be seen returning at 12.50 pm. He was still wearing a helmet. He had changed the T-shirt he was wearing earlier and wore a different coloured T-shirt when he returned. Jaycee's husband is a native of Perumbavoor. Although not legally separated, Jaycee has been estranged from him for quite some time. Jaycee' daughter, who is in Canada, has reached home.
