THRISSUR: The Vellikulangara police have arrested Maramcode native Bineesh Benny (32) on charges of raping and filming his neighbor’s wife. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by the victim, who revealed that the accused had threatened to release the video on social media if she disclosed the assault.

The incident occurred five months ago when Bineesh forcibly locked the victim inside a room, raped her and recorded the act. Terrified by his threats, the woman eventually confided in her husband, leading to the police complaint.

Bineesh, who was trying to flee after learning about the case, was arrested by the police. As the Chalakudy Magistrate was unavailable, he was being transported to Kodungallur for remand when he attacked the officers and attempted to escape.

Further investigations revealed that Bineesh has a history of criminal activities, including a rape case in Nilambur in 2022 and visa fraud in 2017, for which separate cases have been registered at the Athirappilly police station.
