NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly criticized the Congress, accusing them of disrespecting Parliament and democracy. Addressing the media ahead of the winter session of Parliament, Modi said, "Some who have been continuously rejected by the people are constantly trying to control Parliament through hooliganism. The people of the country are watching their every move."
"This session is very special. It is being held during the 75th anniversary of the Constitution. The key pillars of our Constitution are Parliament and MPs. Healthy discussions should take place in Parliament," said Modi.
The winter session, scheduled to run until December 20, is expected to be significant, with speculation that the government might introduce the much-debated ‘One Nation, One Election’ bill. Additionally, 16 bills, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and the Disaster Management (Amendment) Bill, may be tabled during the session.
As part of Constitution Day celebrations tomorrow, an event will be organized in the Central Hall of the old Parliament, where the Constitution was originally ratified. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Modi will participate in the event. A copy of the Constitution in Sanskrit-Maithili, along with a commemorative stamp and coin, will be released during the ceremony.
