THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Principal Priya of Poovachal Higher Secondary School sustained injuries during a violent scuffle between students on school premises. The incident reportedly began as an argument stemming from a comment on Instagram and escalated into a physical altercation.

According to eyewitnesses, the clash erupted between first-year and second-year students after a first-year student commented on an Instagram post made by a senior. With tensions running high and similar incidents recurring in the past, the school organized a meeting involving parents, students and teachers to address the growing concerns.

However, during the meeting, tensions flared again, leading to another altercation among the students. Principal Priya attempted to intervene to defuse the situation but was caught in the chaos. It is alleged that the students hit her with a chair during the scuffle. She suffered injuries to her head and nose and was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Kattakada, where she is undergoing treatment.

The Kattakada police have set up a camp at the school to ensure safety and maintain order. Meanwhile, teachers and parents are in discussions to resolve the ongoing tensions and prevent future conflicts.
