KOCHI: Police said that the murder of real estate businesswoman Jaisi Abraham in Kalamassery was a well-planned one. A team led by the Thrikkakara assistant commissioner had arrested Infopark employee and Thrikkakara native Girish Babu and his friend Khadija in connection with the murder.
Jaise Abraham was found dead in an apartment in Koonamthai on November 17. Girish Babu is a friend of Jaisi. In his statement to the police, Girish Babu said that he committed the murder to steal Jaisi's gold and money. The accused tried to commit the robbery to settle their financial obligations. The police took the accused into custody through a scientific investigation. On the day of the murder, Girish Babu came to the apartment and got drunk with Jaisi. When Jaise fell unconscious, she was hit on the head with a dumbbell and killed. After the murder, the accused escaped by stealing Jaise's gold bangles and chain.
He came to the apartment after making sure that Jaisi had money and gold in her possession. The police had obtained CCTV footage of Girish arriving at the apartment wearing a helmet with a bag and then changing his clothes and leaving wearing a helmet. The investigation was carried out in the light of these visuals from the apartment. According to the police, Jaisi had around 10 injuries on her head and had a very deep wound on the back of her head.
The doctors who conducted the post-mortem at the Ernakulam Government Medical College Hospital were the ones who informed the police that the death was a murder. On examining the CCTV footage, the police found that the man wearing a helmet walking on the road in front of the apartment at 10.20 am on Sunday. In the footage, he can be seen returning at 12.50 am. He was still wearing a helmet but was wearing a T-shirt of a different colour, replacing the T-shirt he was wearing earlier. Jaisi's husband is a native of Perumbavoor. Although not legally separated, Jaisi has been living separately from her husband for a long time. Jaisi's daughter, who is in Canada, was the one who informed the police as Jaisi did not pick up the phone. The body was found when the police reached the spot and opened the house.
