THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain is likely to lash the state on Tuesday. Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram. Isolated heavy rain is predicted. Heavy rain is defined as a rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.


The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed that there is a possibility of light rain at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Ernakulam in the next three hours.


The IMD has warned that there is a possibility of rain with thundershowers at isolated places in Kerala till tomorrow. Yellow alert has been issued in three districts tomorrow. There is a warning of rains in Idukki, Palakkad and Malappuram.


Meantime, strong winds and bad weather are likely along the south Kerala coast with a speed of 35 to 45 kmph and at times up to 55 kmph. In this situation, the authorities have advised against fishing along the south Kerala coast till Friday.
