KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will consider the plea filed by former Kannur DMO Naveen Babu's family seeking a CBI probe into Naveen Babu's death tomorrow. The bench of Justice Bechu Kurian will consider the plea filed by Naveen Babu's wife Manjusha as the 41st case tomorrow.

Naveen Babu's family had earlier expressed suspicion that Naveen Babu might have been murdered. Manjusha alleged in the plea that the possibility that Naveen Babu was murdered and hanged cannot be ruled out and that the inquest was conducted hastily before his family members reached Kannur.

According to Naveen Babu's family, the conclusion of the police that it is a case of suicide cannot be taken at face value. There is a lapse on the side of the police in many things including in conducting the inquest. The inquest was conducted before the relatives arrived. The investigating officers did not collect the CCTV footage. The family also alleged that an attempt was made to destroy the evidence.

The family is not satisfied with the police investigation. According to Manjusha, many things will not come out if the state police investigate the case. Many are releasing stories related to the incident. The accused in the case is a CPM leader who has great influence even at the administrative level. This may affect the investigation of the case. Therefore, the family demanded that the case be investigated by the CBI.
