NEW DELHI: The uncertainty over the Chief Minister post in Maharashtra came to an end after caretaker Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed willingness to abide by the decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis will soon be named as the new Chief Minister. The BJP workers gave Fadnavis a warm reception in Nagpur yesterday.
As part of a reconciliation effort, the Shiv Sena was reportedly offered a Cabinet position at the Centre and some key portfolios in the state cabinet. Eknath Shinde has been offered the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
"I have told the Prime Minister that if there is any problem in forming the government in Maharashtra because of me, then do not bring any doubt in your mind and whatever decision you take, that decision is acceptable to me," Eknath Shinde said in a press conference in Mumbai.
