KOZHIKODE: A complaint has been filed for stealing gold from a gold merchant after threatening him with a knife in Koduvally. The complaint said two kilos of gold was stolen from gold merchant Baiju of Muthambalam. The incident happened at Othayoth in Muthambalam on the Koduvally-Omassery Road.
The gold was looted when Baiju was going home in his scooter after closing the shop at night. A car borne team ran over him and then stole the gold after threatening him with a knife. Baiju said they stole the gold of two kilos which he had with him. Baiju clarified that since he is also a goldsmith, he had gold belonging to others. The police have registered a case in the incident.
The police found that the number plate of the car in which the robbers came is fake. Baiju told police that the robbery gang arrived in a white car. An examination conducted, including collecting CCTV footage, revealed that the car's number plate was fake.
