AMBALAPUZHA: Former minister and senior CPM leader G Sudhakaran has been excluded from the Ambalapuzha area conference. He was not invited to the inauguration ceremony or the general meeting. The CPM area conference is to be held right next to G Sudhakaran's house in Paravur.

In recent times, G Sudhakaran underwent a transformation that made him a vocal critic of the party. Sudhakaran’s allegation that the members hoodwinked the leadership by preparing a false report in expelling leader Thayyil John Anjalose, created a big rift within the party. Sudhakaran made the statement in the presence of CPI leader Mullakkara Retnakaran on a public stage.

G. Sudhakaran also criticized the age limit criteria in CPM and asked the leadership to make course corrections immediately. He said the mandatory retirement of members at age 75 would not benefit CPM in any way.

“We all agreed as the provision was brought in under special circumstances. But would the same be in existence during the time of EMS and AKG? What would have been the fate of the party if we duly followed the age criterion during those times? Comrade Pinarayi was given a concession as the party couldn’t find an apt successor for the CM chair. Retirement is not something included in the party dogma.” Said G Sudhakaran.
