THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Veena George is waiting for the investigation report of the health department's expert in the case of a baby born with serious disabilities in Alappuzha.

“As soon as the incident was noticed, a high-level investigation was ordered. An expert team of the Health Department has started an investigation under the leadership of the Additional Director of Health Services. A report will be issued as soon as the investigation is completed. Further action will follow.” Said the minister.

As part of the investigation, two scanning centres were shut down by authorities. The expert team has been instructed to check the further treatment required for the newborn. The minister also stated that the government will take further steps based on the recommendations of the expert team.

The newborn of Anish and Surumi, natives of Lajanath Ward, suffered from various abnormalities. Surumi gave birth on the eighth of this month. Anish alleged that the doctors did not report the defect during the several scans conducted.

The doctors at the hospital blamed the scanning report for the horrific incident. The baby's ears and eyes are out of place. The mouth does not open. When lying flat, the baby's tongue goes inward. In the complaint, the family said that the newborn’s hands and feet were crooked.
