NEW YORK: Aliya Fakhri, the sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in a murder case in New York. The 43-year-old was arrested in connection with the death of her ex-boyfriend Edward Jacobs (35) and his friend Anastasia Etini (33).
On November 2, Aliya set fire to the building in New York where Jacobs and his friend were staying. Jacobs was asleep at the time of the incident. Although Etini did make it downstairs, she went back inside in an attempt to rescue Jacobs. Both died from inhaling toxic fumes, according to District Attorney General Melinda Katz.
Aliya has been charged with murder and arson. The Attorney General said that if convicted, Aliya may face life imprisonment. Witnesses claim that Aliya had previously threatened to set fire to Jacobs' house. One of the witnesses said that Aliya set the building on fire saying, "All of you are going to die." The court has remanded Alia till December 9.
Meanwhile, Nargis Fakhri has not responded to the incident. Narghis rose to fame through the superhit film 'Rockstar', starring Ranbir Kapoor. Reports are claiming that Aliya was a drug addict.
