KOLLAM: The details mentioned in the FIR in the case where a man murdered his wife by pouring petrol on her and setting her ablaze inside the car, have surfaced. Padmarajan was provoked by Anila’s friendship with Haneesh, her business partner in the bakery. The FIR said this led to the crime. He is presently being interrogated by the police.

Padmarajan followed the car driven by Anila in an Omni van, intercepted her vehicle, poured petrol inside, and set her ablaze. Though the youth in the car sustained injuries, he escaped as he ran from the vehicle. The accused surrendered at the East Police Station after the murder.

The incident happened last night at 9 pm at Chammamukku. Anila had recently opened a bakery near the private hospital at Ashramam Maithanam along with Haneesh. Padmarajan was not in talking terms with Anila for a week. The two had borrowed Rs 150,000 from Padmarajan to open the bakery. There was a verbal dispute between Padmajaran and Haneesh when the former asked to return the money. He planned to kill the two in the car and had stocked petrol for it.

Padmarajan waited in his Omni van at Kadappakada till Anila closed the shop and left. However, instead of Haneesh, another employee of the bakery was with her in the car. Padmarajan followed them and executed his plan near Chammamukku. Both the car and the van were completely burned in the incident. Anila died on the spot itself. The youths standing there immediately informed the police and the fire force. The Omni belongs to Padmarajan. The body was shifted to the mortuary. He is being interrogated by a team led by ACP Sheriff.
