KOCHI: The high court has quashed the case filed against a woman for concealing the pregnancy of her minor daughter without informing the police. This case is like sprinkling chili powder on a deep wound. The case was annulled by Justice A Badruddin.

The case was registered in 2021 against the woman for not informing the police about the pregnancy of her 17-year-old daughter. The high court has now quashed the further proceedings of the case pending before the Thrissur Additional District Court. The news of her pregnancy was known when she was taken to the hospital for stomach pain.

The doctor then advised to take her to the medical college, but she was treated at a private hospital. The doctor informed the police on June 3. The case has been registered against the perpetrator of the rape as the first accused and the mother as the second accused under the POCSO Act for not informing about the sexual abuse.
