KOCHI: The CBI has informed that they are ready to investigate the death of K Naveen Babu, former ADM of Kannur. This was informed after the Kerala High Court asked the CBI whether they are willing to take up the investigation. The CBI clarified that they would investigate if directed by the court. The plea will be considered again on December 12. The CBI will give a detailed reply on December 12 after examining government's affidavit.

The government informed the high court today that there is no need for the CBI to investigate the case. The police investigation is going forward in the right direction. The investigation will be completed after taking Naveen's family into confidence. Naveen's widow Manjusha filed a plea seeking a CBI investigation. She approached the court stating that she suspected that her husband's death is a murder.

Her plea said as the accused P P Divya, is a member of the CPM district committee, she did not expect an impartial investigation since she has high political influence. When the plea was considered, Justice Bechu Kurian Thomas had directed to produce the case diary today and the progress of the investigation be informed. Manjusha's argument is that the investigation is being carried out in a way protecting Divya.

The investigation team was formed by including officials lower than the accused in the protocol. The letter sent to chief minister by T V Prasanthan, the petrol pump applicant, accusing Naveen of taking bribe, is fabricated. It has also been alleged that the investigation team is colluding to fabricate a document in favor of the accused.
