NEW DELHI: A bundle of cash was found on the seat allotted to Rajya Sabha member and Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi. The BJP has demanded an investigation into the incident. Meantime, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said that no conclusion should be drawn without an investigation. Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar has announced an investigation on the incident. The opposition alleged that this is a conspiracy by the BJP.
Singhvi's seat number is 222 in the Rajya Sabha. Manu Abhishek Singhvi is a Rajya Sabha member from Telangana. His reaction to the incident is as follows. 'When I go to the Rajya Sabha, I carry only a note of Rs 500. I reached the house yesterday at 12.57 pm. The house was adjourned at 1 pm. I returned after sitting in the Parliament canteen till 1.30 pm. I heard of it for first time now.'
Union Minister JP Nadda said that the incident is serious and affects the prestige of the Rajya Sabha, and that the Rajya Sabha Chairman's decision to conduct a detailed investigation is reassuring.
