ALAPPUZHA: The court handed the death penalty to the victim’s husband in the infamous Mannar Jayanti murder. Kuttikrishnan (60), who brutally murdered his wife, Alummoottil Tamarapally Veetil Jayanti (39) received the death penalty in the case.
According to the prosecution, Kuttikrishnan, very suspicious of his wife entertaining an extramarital relationship, brutally stabbed her to death in front of their one-and-a-half-year-old child. He also used a chisel and hammer to harm her. The next day after the incident, Kuttikrishnan went to the Mannar police station and reported the death. The subsequent investigation revealed that Kuttikrishnan had committed the murder. The accused, who absconded after getting bail, was arrested in 2023.
A fine of Rs.1 lakh has also been levied on the accused. 50000 of which should be given to the daughter. The court also ordered to give Jayanti's gold ornaments, which were produced in court, to her daughter. PV Santhoshkumar, Government Pleader and Public Prosecutor appeared for the prosecution.
