THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The investigation in connection with the suicide of newlywed Induja at Ilavattom in Palode, is progressing, focusing on her husband Abhijith and his friends. The police took her husband Abhijith and his friend Ajaz into custody yesterday.


Abhijith's statement is that Ajaz had beaten Induja. Another friend of Induja was also questioned last night. A native of Moonnanakuzhy in Panavoor, was questioned. More friends are likely to be questioned today. Abhijith used to constantly enter into fight with Induja over her friendship with others. The investigation also found that Abhijith and Ajaz had a fight over the same issue. Following this, it was decided to question more people.


Police said Ajaz had a close friendship with Induja. When Abhijith and Ajaz were taken into custody, they had had deleted all their WhatsApp chats. This further strengthened their suspicions, and the police grilled the two together. There are indications that crucial information has been received. Police said the injuries seen on Induja's body were inflicted recently. There were beat marks under her eyes and shoulders.

Abhijith married Induja three months ago. She was found dead in her house two days ago. Her father, Sasidharan Kani, filed a complaint against her husband and his relatives and demanded a probe into her death. His complaint alleged that his daughter was killed and hanged. Her family said that her daughter had told them that she was constantly facing mental torture and threats at her in-laws' house. Her parents were not allowed to visit her.
