KOLLAM: Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran was severely criticized at the CPM Kollam district conference. The representatives, who termed Arya's appointment as mayor in the name of opportunity for the youth, is a biggest mistake and pointed that Arya's immature behavior would not only harm the party now but also in the future. They also criticized BJP's progress in many areas of the corporation divisions.
DYFI leader and MP A A Rahim's activities also drew severe criticism. Some representatives asked why Rahim was sent to the Rajya Sabha. Although they are not saying that he is bad person, the delegates criticized that his performance is very deplorable. Some demanded that the retirement age in the party should not be calculated based on the age of 75 and that comrades who speak ill of others should be excluded, no matter how high-ranking they are. Some said that the Left is now faceless in Parliament.
There was also criticism that some high-ranking CPM leaders tried to make Sandeep Varier a saint. The representatives criticized the leaders in the party who had forgotten communalism they had spoken about the day before and tried to make Sandeep a good comrade, and when he joined the Congress, they tried to deceive the minorities by using his communal politics in newspaper advertisements.
The representatives criticized that although K B Ganesh Kumar contested and won from Pathanapuram as a Left Front candidate and became a minister, he is still a liability to the CPM. Although political corruption has reduced in the second Pinarayi government, there is massive corruption at the official level. Party members do not get justice even in police stations. Party members do not even get the consideration that other party members get, they criticized.
