KUMALI: The water level in Mullaperiyar Dam is rising due to heavy rains. The water level reached 124.5 feet at 4 pm yesterday. It was 120.6 feet in the morning and rose four feet in nine hours. The permissible storage capacity is 142 feet.
22,100 cubic feet of water flows into the dam per second. As heavy rains continue in Tamil Nadu too, more water cannot be transported there. Heavy rain continues in the catchment area of the dam. There are indications of small landslides in some places in Thekkady forest area. The rainfall was 101 mm at the dam and 108.2 mm at Thekkady.
Light rain for three days
There is a possibility of light rain in Kerala state for three days. This is in the central and southern districts. There will be a slight rise in temperature during the day. The rain will be a little more active from the 16th. There is no restriction on fishing on Kerala coast.
