Some of the recent open revelations by actresses about exploitation in the film industry have sparked major controversies. Allegations against prominent actors and directors have led to police registering cases and filing charge sheets. Now, a sexual harassment allegation from Bollywood is creating shock waves across the film industry. Singer Lagnajita Chakraborty has accused renowned Bollywood music director Rajesh Roshan of attempting sexual misconduct. Rajesh Roshan is the paternal uncle of Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan.
According to Lagnajita, the incident took some years back when she was living in Mumbai. Lagnajita made the shocking revelation while speaking in the podcast 'Straight Up With Shree'
"We were discussing an advertisement project. Rajesh Roshan offered me a chance to sing and asked me to meet him at his residence in Santacruz. When I arrived at his house, he welcomed me warmly. We sat down in his music room. After a while, he came and sat down next to me. I had sung a few jingles, and he asked me to show him some of my works. As I was browsing through my iPad on the table to show my work, I noticed him shift a bit towards me. I was noticing what he was trying to do, but I didn't react immediately. Assuming I wouldn't react or protest, he slipped his hand into my skirt. That's when I jumped up and quickly left the place without saying much," Lagnajita said.
The singer alleges that casting couch is prevalent not just in the film industry, but also in the music field. She claims that Rajesh Roshan is one such person and that she has had similar experiences with other celebrities as well. Lagnajita started gaining recognition through Bengali films. She had lent her voice to numerous advertising jingles. The singer gained fame with the song 'Basanta Ei Muche Geche' from the film Chatushkon.
