CHERTHALA: Bike travellers who were hit by a car and fell under a trailer lorry met a tragic end. Jayaraj (35), son of Pattanakkad gram panchayat native Raju and Ambi, who was riding the bike, and Chinju (35), wife of Suresh Kumar, resident of Laksham Veedu Colony, Malayinkeezh, Thiruvananthapuram, who was with him, died.

The accident happened around 7 pm yesterday. Jayaraj and Chinchu were going on a bike from Cherthala towards Alappuzha. After the bike was hit by an oncoming car, both of them fell under the trailer lorry which was travelling in the same direction. The wheels of the trailer lorry ran over their bodies. Jayaraj was admitted to Cherthala KVM Hospital and Chinchu to Cherthala Taluk Hospital but could not be saved. Jayaraj, who was unmarried, was a driver in a private company.
