VALPARAI: A man who was undergoing treatment after being attacked by a wild elephant at Gajam Mudi Estate in Valparai, Tamil Nadu, succumbed to his injuries. The dead is Chandran (62). He died at 3 am Tuesday while undergoing treatment in Coimbatore. The elephant attacked Chandran with its trunk on November 10. Four including Chandran were injured in the attack.

Sarojini (52), wife of Mari Muthu of Gajam Mudi Lower Division, Murukesan's son Udayakumar (32), and Thirunavukkaras' wife Kartheeswari (40). The elephant reached Sarojini's house at around 1 am. The elephant attacked Sarojini when she came out after hearing a noise. Some estate workers who had gathered there ran away in fear, and the rest were injured.
