The Covid era helped many people dig into the lucrative space of social media to make passive income. India saw a burgeoning number of vloggers and content creators after the pandemic. Even in Kerala, the numbers are exceeding with content creators turning ubiquitous.

Working from the comfort of home, bereft of office hassles, free from targets and choosing to work at whim make it a gig of dreams. Many have hitherto reaped profits through the online business. ‘Rag to riches’ stories of content creators are aplenty on the internet. But seldom we have heard about business falling flat for vloggers. One such incident happened today.

YouTuber Nalini Unagar on Wednesday, posted on X about her decision to sell camera equipment and other paraphernalia associated with studio work and kitchen accessories. She even requested people to contact her if interested in buying it.

Nalini Unagar has been popular with cooking videos on YouTube for the past three years. Setting up a studio and kitchen solely for the YouTube vlog drained Rs eight lakh from her pocket. And much to her shock, the three years of work brought her no profits.

“I failed in my YouTube career, so I’m selling all my kitchen accessories and studio equipment. If anyone is interested in buying, please let me know.” Nalini wrote on X.

The young woman's post quickly became a topic of discussion on social media as people started to talk more about the perilous effort people are taking to see success on YouTube.

"I have done more than 250 videos. I dedicated three years to YouTube but I got no revenue. In response, I have taken away my videos from the platform” said Nalini.

This is not the first time that Nalini has been in the news. Earlier, Nalini clashed with actress Swara Bhaskar on social media regarding a vegetarian diet.
