A 24-year-old native of Wayanad, who arrived from Abu Dhabi the other day, was also confirmed to have Mpox. Hospital sources informed that his health condition is satisfactory after being admitted to the isolation ward. His body has blisters but nothing serious.
Health Minister Veena George informed that those who came in contact with Mpox patients should inform the health department if they have any symptoms. Precautions were strengthened after the disease was confirmed for those who came from the UAE. Their route map will be published soon. The minister also directed to arrange more isolation systems. A State Level Rapid Response Team (RRT) is meeting and assessing the situation under the leadership of the Minister.
Initial symptoms include fever, severe headache, swollen lymph nodes, back pain, muscle pain, and lack of energy. Blisters and red spots begin to appear on the body within a week of the onset of fever. Most blisters are found on the face and hands. Apart from this, they are also found on the palms, genitals and eyes. People who come into close contact with sick people without using the safety precautions recommended can get Mpox.
