KOCHI: A school building has collapsed in Udayamperoor. The building of the 100-year-old Kandanad J B School collapsed Thursday morning at 9 am. An Anganwadi was functioning in the building. Six children are studying in the Anganwadi. The locals said that a major accident was averted as the incident happened before the children arrived. The pictures of the collapsed building have also surfaced.

Meantime, many allegations are levelled on the lifespan of the building. The locals’ said parents are not sending their children to study here due to the condition of the building. Anganwadi helper Lissy told media that many complaints have been filed with the panchayat to reconstruct the building, but no action has been taken.
