IDUKKI: A man committed suicide in front of a bank in Kattappana. Sabu (56) of Mulangassery in Kattappana ended his life in front of the rural development corporative society. He came to the bank yesterday demanding to return his deposited money.

He ended his life Friday morning at 7.30. People staying close to the bank found him hanging near the steps of the bank. Sabu has a shop in Kattappana. He had deposited Rs 25 lakh in the bank. He had earlier requested the bank to return his money but as they had some financial restraints, they had agreed to return the money in installments. The bank authorities said they have been giving him money till recently.

Sabu’s wife is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Thodupuzha. He came to he bank yesterday as he needed some money for her treatment. He had a verbal dispute with the bank officials. The police are investigating as what led him to take the extreme step.
