THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A surprise inspection conducted by the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau at the Neyyattinkara Joint RTO revealed widespread irregularities. Rs 3500 was seized from a private vehicle driver, who was acting as an agent for the Joint RTO. It was found that agents had been sending over Rs 1 lakh every month to the driver’s Google Pay number for Joint RTO.

Vigilance will conduct a detailed investigation into the complaints that people were unable to receive services at the Neyyattinkara Sub RTO without paying bribes. Vigilance Director Yogesh Gupta said that the investigation report will be submitted to the government. The raid was conducted under the leadership of Special Investigation Unit SP.

Fines totalling Rs 7.83 crore were imposed through surprise inspections conducted by Vigilance this year. The GST department collected Rs 11.37 lakh, the Motor Vehicles Department collected Rs 1.05 crore, and the Mining and Geology Department collected Rs 6.71 crore in fines. A total of 42 individuals were arrested.
