THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance is all set to issue clean chit to ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar, who faced a bevvy of allegations from illegal property acquisition, construction of luxury house in Kowdiar, sale of a flat in Kuravankonam and illegal tree cutting in Malappuram SP's camp office.
Vigilance found no concrete evidence justifying the claims. The report will be submitted to the DGP immediately. The report mentions that MLA P V Anvar failed to submit any clear-cut evidence in the gold smuggling case. Vigilance, too, ended up getting nothing out of its investigation focused on the ADGP’s alleged ill dealings.
However, the report states that Ajith Kumar took a loan of one and a half crores from SBI for the construction of a luxury house in Kowdiar. The report said that the government was informed about the construction of the house and the property was included in the property information list.
That allegation that Ajith rolled black money by reselling the flat within ten days also ended up futile providing no evidence. Malappuram SP Sujith Das was also alleged to have connived in gold smuggling through Karipur with the help of some people. But in the report, Sujith Das’s tenure as SP was praised and it said that his tenure resulted in the maximum amount of gold getting seized from airports.
In the last few days, controversy brewed after the government promoted Ajith Kumar to DGP rank. The cabinet meeting approved the decision despite getting a thumbs down from ally CPI. Amidst this controversy comes the news about the vigilance report, sure to ignite another controversy in the coming days.
