LUCKNOW: The famous Bankey Bihari Mandir in Uttar Pradesh urged devotees to dress modestly while visiting the temple. Instructions related to this have been issued by the temple authorities.

The temple is located in the Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. The temple committee also asked pilgrims to avoid wearing modern clothes on the temple premises. The decision was taken minding the rush of devotees from all across India during the new year season.

Devotees in miniskirts, torn jeans and night suits will not be allowed inside the temple premises. The authorities believe such dress codes to desecrate the sanctity of the temple. The request in this regard has been notified through the media. Manager Munish Sharma backed the reforms which he said will help uphold the culture of Bankey Bihari Mandir.

Devotees from outside Mathura, mostly youths are visiting the temple en masse during the Christmas holiday season. Many among them arrive in ripped jeans and modern dresses, raising the eyebrows of temple authorities.
