THRISSUR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which made significant strides by winning the Thrissur constituency in the Lok Sabha elections, is taking proactive steps to repeat its success in the upcoming local body and assembly elections in Kerala. In line with its strategy, the party plans to appoint 30 district presidents across the state’s 14 districts, following a structure inspired by the RSS. BJP state president K Surendran stated that the procedure in this regard has been completed. The new structure will see districts like Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Thrissur each having three district committees, while Kollam, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Kottayam, Idukki, and Kannur will have two committees each. No divisions are planned for the districts of Pathanamthitta, Wayanad, and Kasaragod.

This move aims to strengthen the BJP’s grassroots presence ahead of the crucial local body elections and the forthcoming assembly elections. A few years ago, the party had successfully divided assembly constituencies into two zones, enabling more localized protests and enhancing election campaigns. The party believes this approach has bolstered its organizational reach. The BJP’s key objectives include making significant gains in local body elections, securing control of the Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur corporations, and increasing its seat count in the upcoming assembly elections.
