THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police have initiated action based on intelligence reports indicating the possibility of gang clashes at Christmas and New Year parties in the city. The police began issuing notices yesterday to hotels hosting Christmas and New Year DJ parties and other celebration events.
Police had earlier received information that individuals with criminal backgrounds might participate in these festivities. Following an investigation, authorities concluded that there is potential for clashes during Christmas and New Year celebrations in the city. In addition to DJ parties, issues could arise at other venues as well, according to confidential reports.
Last week, notorious gang leader Om Prakash created an issue during a DJ party hosted by Danny, the son of notorious gang leader Sajan, at a dance bar in Eanchakkal, creating a major headache for the police. This incident prompted the police to restrict DJ parties in the city.
Conditions
1. Organizers must provide information about the sponsors of DJ parties.
2. CCTV cameras should be installed on the routes to the venue of the DJ party
3. The names and details of attendees must be documented and submitted.
4. If individuals with criminal backgrounds are allowed to attend, action will be taken against hotel owners.
5. Inspections using drug detection kits must be conducted during parties.
Drugs
If a conflict arises during a DJ party or if drugs are detected, legal action will be taken against both the organizers and the hotel hosting the event. The police have gathered intelligence about extensive drug use and the distribution of dangerous substances like MDMA. These parties are a significant revenue source for drug cartels. In addition to the police, other specialized units, such as the Excise Department's striking force, will carry out thorough inspections.
