THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The copy of the report submitted by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar to the DGP, asserting that Thrissur Pooram was sabotaged for the Lok Sabha elections, has surfaced. However, this report was rejected by DGP Sheikh Darvesh Saheb. The report did not say who disrupted the Thrissur pooram for political gains. However, the names of the BJP state vice-president and a top RSS leader were given in the statement. Ajith Kumar also levelled strong criticisms against the Thiruvambady Devaswom.

The Thiruvambady Devaswom office bearers are being blamed by their names. Ajith Kumar has found that some people from the Thiruvambady Devaswom created trouble by demanding illegal demands, and they conspired with vested parties to sabotage the festival. The report also states that a decision had been taken in advance to sabotage the Pooram if their demands were not accepted.

They tried to create sentiment against the state government and the district administration by stopping the Pooram. The report pointed out that the issue was used by vested interests for political gain in the Lok Sabha elections. It is also said that some police officers dissatisfied with commissioner Ankit Ashok’s activities also utilised Pooram. The intelligence wing of the police department did not give any indication of Pooram sabotage.

However, the DGP rejected this report and requested that the report be handed over to the chief minister to investigate if there was any lapse on the part of ADGP M R Ajith Kumar in Pooram security. Subsequently, the government announced a three-level investigation. These are still in progress.
