THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Samastha mouthpiece Suprabhatham has strongly criticized the CPM. The criticism is in an editorial titled, ‘Is CPM preparing ground for Sangh Parivar?’ The article begins by saying, ‘Although the red flag still carries the symbols of the working class and the peasantry, the CPM has not spoken much for the working class for a long time.’
The editorial alleged that the CPM began to take a step towards communal politics in the mid-1980s. It also criticizes that CPM leaders are taking a pro-Hindutva stance.
The editorial also said that the new Hindutva communal votes created by the statements made by CPM leaders and the government's actions by fostering Islamophobia will go to the BJP. The article concludes by saying that as long as the party is not ready to correct Vijayaraghavan, the ground on which it is standing will be washed away at the center of the Sangh Parivar.
The statement by CPM politburo member Vijayaraghavan that congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi won from Wayanad with support from Muslim extremist outfits, had stoked a controversy. Following this, the mouthpiece criticized the CPM.
