Actress Mallika Sukumaran openly said that she is a mother who don’t like to bother her children and daughters-in-law. She also clarified that she does not travel much with her children. She also said that she does not want to interfere in the freedom of her daughters-in-law Poornima and Supriya. She shared these things in an interview with Kaumudy Movies.
'Many ask why I don’t travel with my children. Both my children love to travel. Once when my eldest son Indran visited Japan, he happened to meet Mukesh Ambani. He took a photo with him. Everyone was surprised to see that. People in Kerala see Ambani the same way they see Yousuf Ali. It is not a big deal. When going for trips, should also meet your loved ones there. My children don’t get time for that.
Poornima and Supriya go for trips with their mothers. Many ask why they don’t take me. The people in Kerala have the notion that your mom is different from your mother-in-law and this is not intentional. I think the freedom they get when travelled with their mothers will not obtain when travelled with their mother-in-law.
I have a flat in Ernakulam. Everyone comes there. There are no big secrets in our family. If there is anything, my children will tell me. Then why should my daughters-in-law tell me. I don't like to travel much. I don't have any such ambitions. I have been to America, Australia and Japan with my husband. I haven't travelled much after his death. If any health issues occur when travelled with my children, then it will be difficult for them.
If I don't interfere too much in the affairs of my children and daughters-in-law, love will always remain. If I have a need, my two children will fly to me. That is my wealth. Recently, Indran built a house in Ernakulam. He said there is a special room for me, but I haven't gone to live there. That house also has Poornima's designing touch,' said Mallika Sukumaran.
