WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump nominated Indian-American entrepreneur Sriram Krishnan as the White House Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy advisor. Sriram, 41, is a writer and venture capitalist. He is a confidante of billionaire Elon Musk. Krishnan, after working on Twitter, joined hands with Musk after the billionaire took over the platform and rechristened it 'X'.

He has worked in big tech companies like Microsoft, Twitter, Yahoo, Facebook and Snapchat. Sriram will now work under David O. Sacks, Trump's pick for White House AI and crypto czar. Sriram was born in Chennai and was a partner and former product leader at Andreessen Horowitz, a California-based investment firm.

Many within the MAGA camp are discontent over Trump picking ‘Another Indian’ to run a crucial department. Moreover, many people even shared the old social media posts of Sriram that tacitly criticised Donald Trump’s policy decisions in 2019.

Despite the growing dissonance, the tech leaders in US approved Trump selecting a tech-savvy like Krishnan to head the department.
