VARKALA: The 74th Narayana Gurukula Convention has started at Varkala Narayana Gurukula. Dr Peter Oppenheimer hoisted the flag in the courtyard of the Brahma Vidya Mandiram in Guru Narayana Giri.

S Radhakrishnan, former director of Akashvani and Doordarshan Training Center, inaugurated the convention. "Sree Narayana Gurudeva is the embodiment of infinite compassion who raised us by the hand even in the Paramapada," said S Radhakrishnan. He added that Gurudeva's works are like pearls at the bottom of seas and waterbodies.

Swami Tyageeswaran presided over the function. Swami Subhangananda General Secretary of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust, and Swami Vyasaprasad, delivered lectures. Swami Vyasaprasad released the book Indelible Impressions of Guru Nithya Chaitanya. Brahmachari Bejois moderated the seminar on 'Narayana Guru Darshan'. Dilip PI, Ajayan J and Dr VK Santosh spoke. Dr Rani Jayachandran gave a review speech in the closing discussion held in the evening.
